Advancing Climate Resilience & Innovation in Bulgaria

On February 19, 2025, Peshtera, Bulgaria, hosted the first National Roundtable within the INFIRE Project, marking a major milestone in the country’s journey toward climate adaptation and carbon neutrality. Organized by the Regional Energy Agency of Pazardzhik (REAP) in collaboration with the Municipality of Peshtera, this event brought together experts, stakeholders, and policymakers to drive forward sustainable solutions.

Experts from REAP outlined INFIRE’s goals, partnerships, and pilot initiatives, detailing upcoming activities focused on capacity-building and training for public authorities. The project’s core mission? Equipping regions with the tools to develop, implement, and monitor effective Climate Adaptation and Carbon Neutrality (CACN) strategies.

✔ Assessment of financing frameworks for green investments across the Euro-MED region.
✔ Gap analysis of innovative financing mechanisms for sustainable projects.
✔ SWOT & PESTLE analysis of climate-related objectives in Peshtera’s pilot region.

The event concluded with a roadmap for upcoming initiatives, including the launch of an Energy Help Desk in Bulgaria. This initiative will support vulnerable households by tackling energy poverty, boosting energy efficiency, and promoting renewable energy solutions—strengthening Bulgaria’s commitment to a just and sustainable energy transition.
